I DON'T LOVE SOCCER
WORLD CUP FINAL 2014
→ I DON’T LOVE SOCCER BECAUSE... EXHIBITION
The print responds to an extract from Umberto Eco’s 1978 essay ‘The World Cup and Its Pomps’ — “...before my eyes a cosmic, meaningless performance was proceeding”. It features a full, written transcript of the 2014 World Cup Final between Germany and Argentina. The act of reading the football game comes to represent its own cosmic, meaningless performance proceeding in front of the viewers eyes.
Exhibited as part of I Don’t Love Soccer Because... as part of the Art of Football, Camp and Furnace, Liverpool 2018.
